Mobile assets like drill pipe, bottem hole assemblies, cross overs and other expensive equipment and tools depend on regular inspection and maintenance to assure hassle free operation and high performance. In addition, most of the equipment used in oil & gas operations are subject for certification and strict quality assurance. Each hour these assets are not in operation, they represent a significant cost for the operation or rental companies. It is therefore crutial to get the different assets as fast as possible through the inspection and/or maintenance process, without challanging the quality assurance and integrity of the asset. In an industry where shippments from and to offshore locations are heavely depending on external factors (weather) and continuesly changing demand, this process is not necessarily following a structured pattern.
Easy and correct identification of the different assets during return, processing (Insepction/Maintenance) and dispatching are crutial to get the assets fast and secure back into operation. Availability of updated asset information in real time during the different process steps also contributes to identify and handle exceptions and prevent costly re-work in later process steps.
TAM - Maintenance and Inspection does not only provide functionality to follow assets controlled through the maintenance and inspection cycle, it also enables automation of operational processes. Through the integration of electronic tools (electronic calipres, laser lenght meters, wall thickness meters etc.) with the RFID system, TAM enables automatic and correct data gathering with direct connection to the inspected assets in real time. This is not only eliminating time consuming paperwork, it also enables real time quality assurance against asset specifications, certificates and/or other historical information.
